RYAN WHITE Production Manager
Born in Big Sur, California, Ryan is a Canadian-American filmmaker whose award-winning documentaries have screened around the world. He spent four years in Hanoi, Vietnam working as Film Advisor for the World Wildlife Fund’s Greater Mekong Program, then relocated to Bangkok, Thailand, where he produced and directed two documentary features, CAMP UNITY and MONDO BANANA. Other documentary credits include producing THE ORGANIC LIFE and associate producing OUT RUN and PRAY AWAY. He has recently completed his third feature, DIRT MCCOMBER:THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS, a documentary about a Mohawk family in Quebec.
GRANT HAYES Asst. Editor/Asst. Producer
Originating from Northern California, Grant received a BA in anthropology from San Francisco State University, where he directed the award-winning HAIGHT LOVE. He is currently pursuing an MA in visual anthropology at SFSU and has served as an editor for two feature productions: DIRT MCCOMBER: THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS and WE WHO REMAIN. He also directed WANPELA TAIM, a film that explores the post-colonial subjectivities between the Maring people of Papua New Guinea and an American visual anthropologist. Grant has a strong interest in telling nuanced human stories that provide opportunities for viewers to critically reflect upon and expand their perceptions of cross-cultural phenomena.
RACHEL BOYOUNG KIM Intern
Rachel is a filmmaker from South Korea. In 2013, she came to America to study film and fulfill her dream of becoming a filmmaker. During her time in the U.S., she has directed several short films, including a documentary called DREAM BAGS, which was selected for a NATAS scholarship. In 2017, she directed THE REASON TO LIVE which screened at the Beverly Hills Film Festival and DocLands Film Festival. Rachel's expertise in Korean language and culture has been instrumental at Open Eye Pictures, where she works as an intern for DOG WAR.
SUE ST. PIERRE Consulting Producer
Born and raised in New England, Sue relocated to Northern California in 2015 and completed a six month course in documentary film at the San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking. She remains humbled by the power of film to bring meaningful stories to life and to further conversations among those with divergent viewpoints. In addition to her work in film, Sue is a practicing family medicine physician and medical educator. She brings a passion for meaningful stories and medical knowledge to Open Eye Pictures' UNDER OUR SKIN and COMPLICATED, now in production.
EVA ILONA BRZESKI Consulting Editor
Eva Ilona Brzeski is the writer, director and editor of the internationally acclaimed, award-winning films THIS UNFAMILIAR PLACE, 24 GIRLS and CHINA DIARY (911), and the producer, director and editor of the underground sensation LAST SEEN, written and co-produced by Holiday Reinhorn. Eva edited the documentary features UNDER OUR SKIN, AS SHE IS and TWITCH, as well as the TV shows "The Real World, The Simple Life" and many other films. She lives in Northern California, where she works as an editor and edit doctor and has recently launched her new project KINDNESS: THE MOVIE. » website
TOM SHEPARD Consulting Producer/Editor
Tom has been directing and producing documentaries for nearly 25 years. His film SCOUT’S HONOR won two top awards at the Sundance Film Festival and broadcast on the national PBS program POV. He also directed and produced KNOCKING, about Jehovah’s Witnesses, which broadcast nationally on Independent Lens. His current project UNSETTLED tells the harrowing story of LGBT refugees in the U.S. Tom’s collaboration with filmmaker Andy Abrahams Wilson resulted in THE GROVE broadcast nationally on PBS. He has taught documentary in California and Colorado and is the former chairman of New Day Films. He graduated from Stanford University where he majored in biology and film. » website

Lisa has been an editor, producer and executive producer in the commercial video industry for over 30 years. She is a founder and current President of Bonfire Labs, a high-end post-production house in San Francisco. Clients include Apple, Microsoft, Sony, McDonalds, Palm, HP, iPod, AT&T, Adidas and Yahoo. Prior to coming to California, Lisa was a television director at production houses and television stations in Philadelphia and Cleveland, where she also worked independently as a film and video editor. She is the President of the Association of Independent Creative Editors, an international trade association which represents the interests of independent creative editorial companies and their editors.
DAVID HELBRAUN Board Director
David is the founder of The Helbraun Law Firm and a graduate of Yale University and Hastings College of the Law, University of California at San Francisco. Formerly a partner in the San Francisco office of an national law firm, Mr. Helbraun is a trial lawyer specializing in civil rights and police misconduct, professional liability and insurance, copyright and trademark, and commercial litigation.
BRUCE GRANT Board Secretary
Bruce is an Australian national living in San Francisco California. He has worked in three industries – digital media, financial markets and financial software. In digital media Mr Grant co-founded Skuff TV, Australia's premier independent actions sports media brand watched by millions each month around the world. Mr Grant holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from University of New South Wales and a Masters in Business from London Business School.
